Owner Bio
As the owner of CPCustom Kydex I'd like to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my background.
Many companies put forth claims that their holsters are "Made by Shooters for Shooters" or that they are "veteran owned and operated". However, this doesn't necessarily mean that they have any experience in holster making or firearms. Many veterans never carried a firearm as a part of their job in the military, and many "shooters" haven't gone to multiple shooting schools and don't train consistently to maintain their proficiency with their firearms, and as a result they haven't gained the experience needed to know what works and what doesn't work in a holster.
In 2002 I joined the Marine Corps Infantry and served 4 years of active duty before being honorably discharged in 2006. During my enlistment I served multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. While This experience taught me much about combat and firearms, admittedly, my primary weapon system was a rifle. After the military I attended Executive Security International, which is a well known and highly regarded school for executive protection. Here I was introduced to the principles of concealed carry and learned the fundamentals of gunfighting with a sidearm. I also learned the importance of having a good holster.
After Graduating from ESI I began working as a security contractor protecting US diplomats in Iraq and later Afghanistan. For the next 4 years I protected US Diplomats while carrying a concealed sidearm as my primary weapon in a country where everyone else carried an AK 47. Not an ideal situation, however, during this time I was afforded the opportunity to try out a lot of different holsters and gear and I quickly learned what worked, and what didn't work for me. I also began making my own holsters out of Kydex because many of the holsters out there did not fit my specific needs.
Today, I continue to work in the security industry and carry a concealed firearm daily both for my job and as a responsible citizen and CCW holder. I attend shooting courses and train with my firearm and the same holsters that I make for my customers consistently, because I believe that if you choose to carry a firearm you have a responsibility to be proficient with that weapon, and as any seasoned shooter will tell you, shooting is a perishable skill set.
The holsters that I make for you are the same holsters that I use daily and trust with my life. I know the importance of having gear that is not only rugged and dependable, but also comfortable enough to wear all day. I rely on my background and personal experiences to build and create the best products that I can and I personally inspect every holster that leaves our shop for fit and quality. If there is ever a problem with any of my holsters I will replace it or adjust it as necessary free of charge.
-Respectfully,
Mikkel -Owner and Founder of Canis Pastoralis Custom Kydex.
